About this translation
This website follows the manuscript of The English Qur’an and presents the translation within a clear and disciplined reading environment.
The importance of this translation
This translation was produced in response to a pressing need, to present the Qur’an in English that is faithful, precise, intellectually honest, and still natural and readable for the modern reader. It serves readers who seek guidance but struggle with archaic language, younger generations raised in English speaking settings, and thoughtful non Muslims who wish to approach the Qur’an without unnecessary barriers.
Translation method and conventions
The method is simple and disciplined, to let the Qur’an speak without commentary, embellishment, or distancing language. Wherever possible, the translation remains close to the Arabic wording. Where English requires adjustment, it does so carefully and transparently. The aim is faithful communication, clarity, and direct engagement with the Qur’anic voice.
About the translator
A. K. Khan is a UK based Islamic educator, author, and researcher whose work is devoted to restoring direct and intelligible engagement with the Qur’an for modern English readers. His background combines early Qur’anic study, advanced English academic training, and sustained study of classical Arabic, allowing him to approach Qur’anic translation with clarity, discipline, and fidelity to meaning.
